Fruit At It's Peak

"But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Gal.5:22)

I am an admitted fruit junky... Unfortunately, I'm not too keen on vegetables, but I love fruit. Have you ever grabbed a beautiful red apple from your refrigerator and with eager anticipation and taken a big bite, only to find that it was mealy? As much as we love fruit, it is always the best when at the peak of ripeness. For this reason, picking out fruit from the store can turn into an arduous task, as we try to find that perfect peach. I was just thinking of how wonderful it would be to always have fruit at it's best, and never have to worry about spoilage or over-ripeness.. I hope that this was not too laborious a way to segue into today's devotional about fruit that is never over-ripe or spoiled. We have read, studied and heard sermons from Galatians 5:22....The fruit of the Spirit....Lets take a look at this special fruit from a slightly different perspective, and see what these qualities are really all about. The fruit of love, joy and peace is first. They describe God's love for us. Love, joy and peace ripen perfectly into our relationship with God. The real fruit of love obliterates self-love and extends outwardly to other people. The wonderful fruit of joy allows us to have real balance in our lives. It lets us to stare life's problems straight in the face and say, "You won't bring me down." As we complete this first great trio of fruit, we come to peace. The fruit of peace is a direct result of love and joy. With love extending to others and joy lighting up our lives, we find peace. Peace is a deep and profound sense of contentment and well-being. I think it is what the apostle Paul was talking about when he wrote; "I am not saying this because I am in need, for I have learned to be content, whatever the circumstances" (Phil. 4:11). I hope that I've sharpened your appetite for more good fruit...That's tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day...God's people make a difference... Love mark Phil. 4:11
