Fly Like An Eagle

"I want to fly like an eagle, to the sea. Fly like an eagle, let my spirit carry me. I want to fly like an eagle, 'till I'm free"

Steve Miller 1975

"But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles" (Isaiah 40:31)

If Steve Miller wanted to fly like an eagle in an attempt to solve the problems either in his own life or in the world, maybe he should have read the words of the prophet Isaiah..God does want us to fly like eagles. An eagle has the ability to soar in an almost effortless manner. We were made to live on a higher plane. He tells us over and over that He wants us to be Christ-like. The rest of the Isaiah passage says; "they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." So....If we are to fly like eagles, what is it that we must understand? "I tell you the truth, no one can see the kingdom of God unless he is born again" (Jn.3:3). If we are to grow into eagles, we must be born an eagle. Just because we might live good lives doesn't mean that God will allow us to fly...I think that we were designed to fly like eagles rather than crawl around in the dirt. God is like the "mother eagle." When its time He pushes us out of the nest so that we can soar. Nobody soars by staying in the nest! Eagles are not afraid of storms, but actually are able to function in them. They have the ability to find just the right air currents. When they find these currents, they simply stop flapping, let go and S O A R. . . . So where does the wind come from that allows us to soar like eagles? I'll let Jesus answer that one..."The wind blows wherever it pleases. You hear the sound, but you cannot tell where it comes from or where it is going. So it is with everyone born of the Spirit" (Jn.3:8). If we only permit Him to do so, God will supply the wind, His Spirit, so that we may fly like eagles....Even soar like eagles..How this happens tomorrow
