In The Eye Of The Hurricane

"We have seen the Lord....But he (Thomas) said to them, 'Unless I see the nail marks in His hands and put my finger where the nails were, and put my hands into His side, I will not believe' " (Jn.20:25).

The disciple Thomas, who was one of the twelve, stands out in history as one of the most famous doubters of all time. Even though Jesus had told the twelve what would happen, Thomas doubted...Even though the other disciples told him that they had seen the resurrected Lord, Thomas' doubts persisted. I would like to call Thomas' dilemma the storms of doubt. In the climate of our times, doubts often arise. They can often arise as storms of materialism, declining faith, intellectual conflicts or the existence of suffering. These storms can cause a myriad of problems. One of the first things people do when the storms arrive is to withdraw from the fellowship of Christians. Without brethren to help lift them up, God is questioned and innocence can be lost. One might doubt the authority of God's Word and then feed on even more doubt. Have you read anything about the eye of a hurricane. In short and not overly precise terms, it is round area of comparatively warm and calmer air in the center of the storm. The details are much more complicated than this, but the eye of the hurricane is a fascinating phenomena. In the climate of life, storms will always arise. I would submit to you that we can always find Jesus in the eye of any storm, no matter how harsh. We can find Him through talking and praying to Him. We can find Him at the eye through reading and meditating on His Word (John 20:24-31). We can find Him at the eye through making an extra effort to associate with our fellow believers. As we talk with the Lord and grow our faith, He will gently bring us into the eye and say; "For I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will fine rest for your souls" (Matt.11:29).

Have a wonderful day...He will help you make a difference.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
