The Good News

"I must preach THE GOOD NEWS of the kingdom of God to the other towns also, because that is why I was sent" (Lk.4:43).

In several different scriptures, Jesus explains His reason for coming to earth. Today's verse is one of them. (Lk.4:18, 7:22). He came to reveal the good news. We are probably all acquainted with the word gospel. We often use these two words synonymously, and rightly so. There is a lot of depth in this word which I would like to address that today...Lets get a better look at what the good news is. To get a better understanding of the term, we need to actually visualize God in the Bible. In the seventeenth chapter of the Book of Acts, while speaking to the Athenians, the apostle Paul gives them and us a clear picture. "The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples made with hands. And He is not served by human hands, as if He needed anything, because He gives all men life and breath and everything else" (Vs. 24-25). God made (created) the world, and as a former science teacher I marvel at the beautiful symmetry in which it was done...It did not "just happen." This symmetric design shows a master designer. Rather than being in any way dependent upon man, we find ourselves needing Him. He blessed us with this world and put us in charge of it. "God did this so that men would seek Him and perhaps reach out for Him, though He is not far from each of us" (V.27). God made us in such a way that we would desire to seek and get to know Him. I love in verse 27 where it says; "though He is not far from each of us." Our God is an accessible God, not far from each of us. In his work Confessions, Augustine said this: "You made us for Yourself, our hearts are restless until they find peace in You." Next time, lets look at man as he is pictured in the New Testament...

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
