Being Set Free

"It was for freedom that Christ set us free; therefore keep standing firm and do not be subject again to the yoke of slavery" (Gal.5:1).

I have often wondered what it would be like to be set free. Maybe like an animal that was raised in captivity finally getting to live where it belongs. When humans decide to live by the Spirit by taking Jesus into their lives, they experience a freedom. It is being set free on several different planes. "But thanks be to God that though you used to be slaves to sin, you wholeheartedly obeyed the form of teaching to which you were entrusted. You have been set free from sin and have become slaves to righteousness" (Rom.6:17-18). Through Jesus we are set free from the condemnation of sin. We are then able to go into a voluntary service...The service of righteousness! Jesus is able to solve the dilemma of condemnation for us by setting us free with a powerful desire to serve our God. The rain clouds of sin and spiritual death no longer loom ominously over us. At just the right time, God sent Jesus into a struggling world to set everything right. "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more" (Heb.8:12). What a wonderful thought that our God never remembers our sins when we come to Him...Sins both past and present. Finally, when we take the Lord into our lives, He doesn't leave us out on an island to fend for ourselves. He gives us the power to overcome sins by allowing the Holy Spirit to dwell in us. "So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed" (Jn.8:36). Remember the "get out of jail free" card in the game of monopoly? We have that everlasting card in Jesus. I feel so much better.....

Have a great day....Use your freedom to go about doing good... Love mark Phil. 4:11
