A Template For Doing Right

"They were all filled with awe and praised God. 'A great prophet has appeared among us,' they said. 'God has come to help His people' " (Lk.7:16).

Jesus certainly packed a lot into His three year ministry. He was obviously more than just a prophet as the people declare Him to be here in today's verse. As a prophet however, he defines the word..."God has come to help His people." Jesus had an acute sensitivity toward evil. Although He was a philosopher of sorts, He was not just satisfied with expounding upon things. Jesus takes us into the fray of His time. He takes us to the places were evil is perpetrated. He throws us into the marketplace of life to see how the real people were living and what they were doing. We meet the widows and the homeless....We see the blind, lame and disabled. We get to see life from the perspective of those who were considered to be on the fringes of society. He throws down a challenge to us to make a difference. "For I was hungry and you gave me nothing to eat. I was thirsty and you gave me nothing to drink" (Matt.25:42). Jesus goes on to talk about needing clothes and shelter. The people were appalled and asked when they actually saw Him that way...."I tell you the truth, whatever you did not do for one of the least of these, you did not do for me" (V45). Evil may sometimes seem small to us, but to Jesus it was a disaster area. To us, single acts of sin might seem slight, but to Him they took on much more epic proportions....Eternal proportions.... Jesus challenges us to see evil deeds and be hurt by them. He wants us to see needs and be touched to the extent that we want to help...Being like Jesus is a challenge worth striving for...

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil. 4:11
