More About The Buffet

"The God who made the world and everything in it is the Lord of heaven and earth and does not live in temples built by human hands" (Acts 17:24).

I explained my problem yesterday about buffet eating yesterday, but there is one more thing. Since we are people that like to "get their money's worth," the problem of overeating always looms. After all, you are going to pay the same price whether you eat a lot or just a bit. As the apostle Paul spoke to the Athenians here in the seventeenth chapter of the Book of Acts, he addressed their buffet style religion. He was disturbed that there were so many idols around the city indicating that the people of Athens had many Gods. So that they would not run the chance of offending any of them, they even had an idol with this inscription: TO AN UNKNOWN GOD....Talk about your overeating....I believe that Paul's way of getting the message of the real and true God to them to be magnificent. "Now what you worship as something unknown I am going to proclaim to you" (V 23). Paul not only makes the argument that God exists, but that religious truth exists also. To people who pride themselves in truth and knowledge, this was a master-stroke. To be certain, truth is independent of one's personal feelings. He explained to them and us that not only does truth exist, but it's certainty is universal. It doesn't matter whether you are an Athenian a Roman or an American, the truth is the same and it will produce real and genuine knowledge. Jesus said: "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one come to the Father except through Me" (Jn.14:7). Their buffet religion violated the true will of God, and would leave them without hope. Hope lies in the objective and true gospel...God is the only way, and Jesus is the only way to God...Everything else is just detail and trimmings. With God as our Father and Jesus as the way to Him, we can never overindulge... We will always leave the table perfectly satisfied...

Have a wonderful day.....We can make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
