Harnessed Together

"Take my yoke upon you and learn of me.....For my yoke is easy and my burden is light" (Matt.11:29-30).

Are you old enough to have watched the Westerns on TV? There were a lot of them on when I was a kid. Lets see....The Lone Ranger, The Cisco Kid, Wyatt Earp, Cheyenne, Sugar Foot, Wagon Train....There were many more. I always liked a scene where something would happen to the stagecoach driver and one of the heroes would have to jump into the middle of the team of horses to stop them. One horse was not powerful enough to pull one of those heavy stagecoaches, but a team of them working together would do the job. In today's verse, Jesus talks about his yoke, and being tied together by it. A yoke is like a harness in which a team of animals can have their power increased by working together. Jesus' church ought to be like one of those teams of animals. We are harnessed together by the love of Jesus and though the process, we ought to love and appreciate one another more and more. The church ought to be a community of people created in His likeness. Even Jesus had a group of disciples to help accomplish His purposes. They were harnessed to Him and worked together in doing His good will. The church's job is to work in unison in God's image. It is to meld many diverse people into one powerful entity so that more can be accomplished. Perhaps we might meditate today on Ecclesiastes 4:7-12. It tells about how there is more compassion, strength and service in numbers. I believe that the world hungers for real community! It is searching for a community that is harnessed together for all the right reasons. One in which people are harnessed together through the love of God. It is an evidence that our churches are working when people can see our loving acceptance of one another, and our striving together to do good..No runaway stagecoaches here....Just people harnessed together by the love of God....

Have a wonderful day...Go about doing good, together if possible.... Love mark Phil.4:11
