Prayer And The Spirit - Perfect Together

"They all joined together constantly in prayer, along with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus and His brothers" (Acts1:14).

The scene described in today's verse follows Jesus' ascension to heaven. The eleven remaining disciples were in an upstairs room in Jerusalem along with Jesus' mom and brothers. They would soon choose Matthias to replace Judas Iscariot as the twelfth disciple, but note what the were doing. "They all joined together constantly in prayer." The early Christians were earnest about their prayer to God, and it leads to the birth of the church. Whenever they were challenged, they prayed...Whenever they were intimidated, they prayed...Whenever they were persecuted, they prayed...And now we get to the really good stuff..."After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly" (Acts 4:31). PRAYER LEADS GOD TO GIVE HIS HOLY SPIRIT! Whenever there was an important decision to be made, prayer was included. Prayer leads tough guy sinners to become Christians. "Go to the house of Judas on Straight Street and ask for a man from Tarsus named Saul (Paul), for he is praying" Saul, who was to become the apostle Paul, didn't just see and hear Jesus on the way to Damascus and immediately become a Christian...."for he is praying." Prayers of intercession bring the spirit of God to us on our behalf. Lastly, we find this..."In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express...for the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God's will (Rom.8:26-27). The Holy Spirit takes our prayers to God....Prayer and the Holy Spirit, perfect together....

Have a great day....Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4;11
