A Work In Progress

"Being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus" (Phil.1:6).

Do you have any road construction going on where you live? There are several in our area as I write. It is an inconvenience sometimes when you are in a hurry to come to a stop while the approaching traffic gets to go. As much of a pain that it is, there is the carrot dangling before us. The area under construction will be better than the road was before, and maybe traffic will flow more smoothly. You can tell by his writing that the apostle Paul loved the brethren in Philippi. "I thank God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now." (Vs 3-4). When we decide to follow Jesus into obedience, the construction gets started. God loves us and wants us to be His. As works in progress, some changes are going to take place. We must be patient because the construction is not instantaneous. There may be an inconvenience or two as we get adjusted to a new life in Him. The confidence that we must have is the knowledge that God will not desert the work that has been started. If there is any work stoppage, it is on our part and not His. The apostles Peter (2 Pet.1:5-8) and Paul (Gal.5:22-23) both have lists. They are lists that help us to measure the progress that we are making in God's construction project. Peter's list has faith, goodness, knowledge, self-control, perseverance, godliness and brotherly love in it. Paul's contains love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Know this...God promises to be there for the duration. He will be there as begin and will carry us through to completion. We will get better and better....

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
