Being Blessed

"Blessed is he who's transgressions are forgiven, whose sins are covered. Blessed is the man whose sins the Lord does not count against him and in whose spirit is no deceit" (Ps.32:1-2).

One of our readers pointed out to me and I quote; "Psalm 32 goes hand-in-hand with Psalm 51." Good call John...Psalm 32 is a maskil. I believe this means that it was designed to enlighten those who heard it. A subtle difference between Psalm 32 and 51 is that King David is talking to an audience. He gives a grateful testimony to them about the joy that is found in those of integrity who confess their sins to God. In this Psalm David intermittently speaks to God (Vs 1-2) and the assembly (3-7). He speaks to God about the blessing of forgiveness, and to the people about how good it is to accept His rule in their lives. Notice that the word blessed, sometimes interpreted as happy, is used twice in today's verses. David is speaking to God with exuberance about the happy state that one should be in knowing that forgiveness is just a prayer away. "Then I acknowledged my sin to you and did not cover up my iniquity. I said, 'I will confess my transgressions to the Lord' -----and you forgave the guilt of my sin" (V 5). In the next two verses, there is a chastened confession that life is in reality only secure with God. As David talks to the assembly he makes this important point..."Therefore let everyone who is godly pray to you while you may be found." The prophet Isaiah has a parallel verse...."Seek the Lord while he may be found; call on him while he is near" (55:6). When we sin, the Lord, even though He knows it, wants us to talk with Him about it. The Psalm ends wonderfully. "Many are the woes of the wicked, but the Lord's unfailing love surrounds the man who trusts in Him. REJOICE IN THE LORD and be glad, you righteous; sing, all you who are upright in heart" In a close relationship with God, there should be joy...We should feel the urge to sing, howbeit, in our hearts..Thanks for the idea John....

Have a great day....Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
