Can't Forget The PS

"Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings. Greet the friends there by name" (3 Jn.14).

Today's verse seems to be the PS (postscript) for John's third letter. Though this letter is a personal one to Gaius, we have the luxury of looking over his shoulder and applying the postcard to our lives. I guess when we have read and meditated on it we might see if we identify with any of the three men named. Are we a Gaius, generously giving to and welcoming others? Perhaps we are a Demetrius, a man who loves the truth. If we identify with Diotrephes, who gossips maliciously and refuses to welcome the brothers, we have some work to do on our Christian walk...A lesson that should be gleaned from this short letter is that we ought to reflect Christ's values in our relationships, opening our homes and touching others with love. John wrote to encourage Gaius (and us) to be those kinds of genuine hospitable people. Gaius and Demetrius are commended for their faithful work in the church. They are held up to us as wonderful examples of faithful and selfless servants. On the other hand, we must see that Diotrephes tried to set himself up as a "church boss," Those who aspire to be leaders in the church must shun pride and it's effect on them, and be careful not to misuse or abuse their position.."Peace to you. The friends here send their greetings. Greet the friends there by name." This is John's PS on this postcard....I have my own PS....Never take for Christian workers who serve faithfully for granted. Be sure to commend and encourage them so that they will not grow weary of serving. I am reminded of the apostle Paul's words in First Corinthians..."Always give yourself fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain" (15:58).

Have a great day....Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
