No Longer In The Wine Business

"They did so. And the master of the banquet tasted the water that had been turned into wine....This, the first of His miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee" (Jn.2:8 & 11).

Our Wednesday night Bible class has recently started a series of lessons on the miracles of Jesus. I have a suspicion that some of my future devotionals will be spawned from these lessons. Most of us know that Jesus' first miracle was about the turning of water into wine at a wedding feast in the town of Cana..(Jn.2:1-11). When Jesus did miracles, they were never second rate! The master of the banquet after tasting the newly made wine, had this to say; "Everyone brings out the choice wine first and then the cheaper wine after the guests have had too much to drink; but you have saved the best till now" (V 10). Jesus did miracles for two reasons; There was a need to be met and to prove who he was...Jesus is no longer in the wine making business. He is no longer turning water into wine, but He is able to do things today that are just as impressive...Jesus' ability to come to our rescue in times of need is still prevalent today. This is especially true when it comes to our spiritual needs. When He was in the wine making business He miraculously changed water into wine. Some two thousand years later He can still make some pretty awesome changes. He can change worldly-minded sinners into loving and giving Christian servants..He can change ambivalent disciples into steadfast and reliable ones...He is able to do this through the power of His word. When Jesus makes a change, just as with the wine-making, it is always for the better. The wine that Jesus made was better than the water in the pots and better than the wine that had run out...Although Jesus more than likely will not change water into wine again, He is still in the changing business. He is in the business of changing lives....For the better....

Have a wonderful day...There is good to be done....lets do it... Love mark Phil.4:11
