Whoa - Hold On

"Never, never, never, never, never, never, never give up"

Sir Winston Churchill

There are things and times in life that will try to overcome us if we let them. We have all faced situations that seemed to be hopeless, but have survived to fight another day. So...If we feel like giving up in light of some daunting obstacle facing us, where can we go to get the answer to hold on? I would like us to consider the first seven verses of the seventh chapter of Job for some insight into Job's plight. If you know the story of Job, God has allowed Satan to take everything from him except his life. He is a man who has certainly hit rock bottom. His friends look at him as someone who surely has done something very bad to deserve this. His wife suggests that he just curl up and die. How does Job not just throw in the towel and give up? Do you remember the TV sitcom of the mid 70s and 80s, One day At A Time? I think that this became Job's philosophy for survival. One cannot control or change what has already happened, and the only way to affect the future is in what we do now...Job had a mental attitude that allowed him to live in the moment. He coped with life by concentrating on the power to overcome rather that just with the problem. Now don't get me wrong, Job had some very serious questions about why this tragedy had befallen him. Through it all we see something that comes back to him. That is his unwavering belief that God loves him. It is this same crucial belief that is at the center of our being able to cope. GOD LOVES YOU!! It is when we feel loved that we are empowered to hold on. "For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels or demons, neither the present or the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus" (Rom.8:38-39). Jesus is our security blanket to let us know that we are forgiven, cherished and loved...More tomorrow...

Have a great start to your week...Begin it with some RAKs Love mark Phil.4:11
