Who Or What Controls My Life?

"Once having been asked by the Pharisees when the kingdom of God would come, Jesus replied, 'The kingdom of God does not come with your careful observation, nor will people say, 'Here it is,' or 'there it is,' because the kingdom of God is within you'" (Lk.17:20-21).

When we look at puppets or marionettes, it is very easy to see what controls them. When we drive a car we all understand that we are in control of where it goes. When it comes to what controls our lives however, the issue is often not so clear. Does my work control me? Does money control my life? Do the material things of life control me? There is no doubt that all of these things affect our lives, and I am sure that if you think for a moment or two that you can come up with some more...Maybe a more salient question might be, "Am I totally controlled by self?" Do all the things that I have listed like work, money or material goods revolve just around me? All of this being said, we come to the question that we really should be asking...Do I accept the rule of God in my life? In today's verse, Jesus has been asked by the Pharisees about when the kingdom of heaven will come...His answer is one that we need to pay very close attention to. It's not about, "here it is" or "there it is." Jesus told them and us that "the kingdom of God is within you" Now the Bible did not underline the part that I did...I just did it for my own personal emphasis. The kingdom of God is within each of us...In other words, God is the one that ought to rule our lives. He is the one who ought to be in control..The apostle Paul in the Book of Romans writes something that would be good for us to read and meditate upon today..."You, however, are controlled not by the sinful nature, but by the Spirit, if the Spirit of God lives in you. And if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he does not belong to Christ. But if Christ is in you, your body is dead because of your sin, yet your spirit is alive because of righteousness. And if the Spirit of him who raised Christ from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through his Spirit, who lives in you" (8:9-11). For Christians, GOD IS IN CONTROL! As clear as the puppets, marionettes and the car....It is God in control....

Have a wonderful day...Let the light of Jesus shine from you....Love mark Phil.4:11
