Gospel Two

"Give me the Bible, Holy message shining;
Thy light shall guide me in the narrow way;
Precept and promise, law and love combining,
'Till night shall vanish in eternal day

Priscilla Jane Owens

Fifty days after Jesus resurrection, Peter spoke to the people in Jerusalem on the feast of Pentecost. To understand fully the Good News, one must see Jesus as pictured in the New Testament. "Men of Israel, listen to this; Jesus of Nazareth was a man accredited by God to you by miracles, wonders and signs, which God did among you through him" (Acts 2:22). Peter presents Jesus Christ as God's gift to man. The claim of Jesus to be God's Son is substantiated by wonders and miracles. God's plan from the beginning was to send his Son to us. The ultimate good news is found two verses later. "But God raised him from the dead, freeing him from the agony of death, because it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him." Death is not good news, but eternal life is! His power over death gives us the grand victory..."Where, O death, is your victory? Where, O death, is your sting" (1 Cor.15:55)? There is more good news in Acts 2:33-36....Jesus has been given all authority and is now sitting at the right hand of God. HE HAS ALL AUTHORITY! Jesus had made a promise to his disciples about a comforter who would come after him. "He has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit and has poured out what you now see and hear" (V 33). Hold on now....There is even more good news..."Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit" (V 38). Forgiveness....Salvation....The Holy Spirit...There is such great news for those who choose to be followers of Jesus...We can live an abundant and fruitful life here on earth, and have an eternal life with God....Can I get an Amen?

Have a great day....Life is good....Spread the Word.... Love mark Phil.4:11
