Encountering God In Worship

"Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another" (Heb.10:25).

When we want to take a shot at someone for not attending worship, today's verse is one that we often use. I have heard a sermon or two with this passage as the centerpiece. It isn't my intent to hassle anyone today about non-attendance, but rather to look into rationale...Rationale for why one should want to attend worship services..I believe that worship, when entered into properly, can serve many purposes. Two of them that come to mind are in glorifying God and satisfying our basic needs...Worship is a very private and personal thing that happens in a public setting. Again, when done properly, it is a pure and unadulterated joy in which we can find a rich thanksgiving in deep reverence.. Another thing that comes to mind is that there are three perspectives about worship that are important; content, intent and spirituality. In good worship we are able to commune with God in several ways. Each of us probably find some more meaningful and fulfilling than others, but each aspect can help us in our encounter..Singing, praying, fellowship, communion, giving and preaching are all designed to make our encounter more meaningful. I'll try to figure out why I put preaching last later on...Each worship service can be a restoration for each of us. This restoration happens in mutual encouragement that comes through spiritual interaction. This is the emphasis that I want to put on today's verse..."but let us encourage one another."...."And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds" (V 24). Let's find our worship services as an opportunity to encounter God...To instinctively praise the Lord in joy....Togetherness is good....

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK....or maybe more....... Love mark Phil.4:11
