This Righteous Thing

"Being justified freely by His grace through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ, whom God set forth as a propitiation by his blood, through faith, to demonstrate His righteousness" (Rom.3:24-25).

Are you a bean counter? Maybe this is not the correct term, so how about a number cruncher? In the book of Romans the noun translated as righteousness appears 32 times in 29 different verses. The modifying adjective just, translated as righteous is found 6 times and the verb translated as to justify 15 times. To top this off, the phrase the righteousness of God is utilized 7 times by the apostle Paul in this book. The sheer number of times that these related terms are used in the book is without precedent. Just maybe we have found a theme for this most profound of books in our New Testaments..The relationship between God and man is certainly central to the message of the New Testament. This relationship changed forever when Jesus died on the cross. This puts real teeth into the term, the righteousness of God! "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life" (Jn.3:16). What has become possible because Jesus died is imbedded in the term, the righteousness of God. Our faith in this, and our obedience through that faith, is at the very heart of a Christian's hope for salvation. I believe our God to be an awesome God because of His righteous nature. He asks us to try as hard as we can to be as righteous as possible. As we go about doing good to His glory, I believe that our righteous God is satisfied with us...

Have wonderful day... As we serve others, we serve Him.....Love mark Phil.4:11
