Things About Ethics

"In those days Israel had no king; everyone did as he saw fit" (Judges 17:6).

The children of Israel always got into trouble when they strayed from the Lord's teachings. When the words of today's verse were written, they were ruled by a series of judges. A new judge popped up each time the people did evil in the sight of the Lord...The dictionary define ethics as standards of right and wrong; the part of philosophy that deals with moral conduct, duty and judgement. There are some things in our lives that are certainly not affected by ethics. Scientific principles such as Newton's Laws of Motion are not ethical...Inertia will always be inertia, no matter what our ethical code is. In some matters, authority is not ours. The police enforce traffic laws, bankers lend money and serious injuries often require a doctor. We are permitted to have personal tastes in clothes, cars, music and hobbies. Because of how our universe is set in motion, aspects of time and space are immutable and we pass no moral judgement upon them. There are some things however in which ethics are tantamount... God has let us know that certain things are always either right or wrong. These are never up for grabs or a matter of taste. Our moral ethics should not permit us to be involved with those activities that are wrong. God's values come from His very nature. He wants us to behave ethically because it is the right thing to do. As we grow and mature in the Lord, we actively seek His will in our lives. Becoming more Christ-like in our behavior does not come by some capricious whim. A concerted effort on our part is necessary for His will to be integrated into ours. Our lives become more enriched, as do the lives of others when God's ethics become ours...

Have a great day...Our labor in the Lord is never in vain... Love mark Phil.4:11
