Theodicy - God Being God

"I will call them my people who are not my people; and I will call her 'my love one' who is not my loved one" (Rom.9:25...Hos.2:23).

The iconic Hall of Fame baseball player Ricky Henderson was known for making outlandish remarks. His great accomplishments were often rivaled by his goofy remarks as he talked about himself in the third person. Those around him often concluded, "its just Ricky being Ricky." Theodicy is a defense of God's goodness, power and love in view of the existence of evil. Those that are skeptical of God use the argument revolving around why bad things often happen and good people are affected. I don't have the space or time to answer all of that here, but I believe that God has always presented a clear and concise theodicy. Through all aspects of life, God is always being God...It is revealed to us that God works in a world that is governed by natural laws. The existence of both moral evil and natural evil (natural disasters) are a reality. Through Jesus, God lets us know that He is being God. We are saved through the death and resurrection of Jesus. In the resurrection, evil is conquered. "And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross" (Col.2:15). In the second coming of Christ, the conquest of evil will be made complete. "For He must reign until He has put all his enemies under His feet. The last enemy to be destroyed is death" (1 Cor.15:25-26). In natural death we need not be fearful...Our soul is safe because He has destroyed the evil power. Its just God being God...More thoughts on this tomorrow...
