Into God's Hands

"Jesus called out with a loud voice, 'Father, into your hands do I commit my spirit'" (Lk.23:46)

From the vantage point of the world at that time, the bad guys had won. They had seen to it that Jesus was killed and it was all legal. From our view, Jesus' victory was complete. From Jesus view there was a complete trust in His Father. It was not an easy trust..."My Father, if it is possible, may this cup be passed from me".....The trust was complete however..."Yet not as I will but as you will" (Matt.26:39). It was also not easy in the fact that he had been tempted in every way and come through with flying colors. But Jesus is the quintessential son. As he utters those famous words in today's verse, He is the trusting child. He has prayed to His Father, calling Him just that....Father...He does not commit His spirit to just anyone, but to His Father...In the next few verses, we get the reaction of those nearby. The centurion praised God (V47)...Those who had gathered felt guilt (V49)....Those who knew Him were afraid (V 49). God wants us to commit our spirit to Him also. He knows that it will not always be easy but He promises us a life of revival if we do. He sends us that revival when we open our hearts to Him. He blesses us with that revival when we have complete trust in Him. In other words, God wants us to view Him exactly the way Jesus did in His life and on that fateful day. With pride, dignity and trust we also ought to commit our spirits into His hand...

Have a wonderful day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
