The Last Words

"Father forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing" (Lk.23:34).

These are the words that Jesus uttered when He was hung on the cross to be crucified. Even though they are not His exact last words, just what significance do last words have? Perhaps they might be words of faith. Maybe they would be words of love. They might even be words of regret. I think that Jesus might have meant that the people did not realize the cosmic implication of the battle between God and Satan that had been going on. With that in mind, they also didn't know of the magnificent power that was in His blood..Part of these last words that stand out as amazing reside in this. What others did at the cross was expected. The crowd mocked, sneered and hurled insults at Him as did one of the others being crucified. Jesus however, did the unexpected. He did not yell back at, but rather prayed for them and asked for their forgiveness. He prayed not just for them, but for us. He prayed because all of humanity was in danger and he wanted them to realize that only in Him was there freedom from the guilt of sin. Through it all, we see God's plan of mercy for us through His wonderful Son. We must think us Jesus' death on God's terms and not our own as those last words echo through the corridors of time...Let us heed those words of mercy and forgiveness as we realize how and why God loves us so much...

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK... Love mark Phil.4:11
