Calm The Storm - Calm The Heart

"What manner of man is this? Even the wind and the waves obey Him!" (Matt.8:27)

Jesus came to earth as a man, but was still deity. He told the disciples this repeatedly, and demonstrated his power in doing many miracles. But here they are referring to him as a mere man again. They still can't grasp how a man can do this. Maybe this is the crux of what was wrong with their faith. They had just not connected all of the dots yet. It is taking time for them to come around to the realization that he was more than a man...After Jesus rebuked the storm, he rebuked them "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" (Mk.4:40) Not only did Jesus calm the storm, but he calmed their hearts. In this miracle I see all of us in that boat. Most of the time the seas are calm and life goes along smoothly. But all of us have the storms come up from time to time. There is still power in the words of Jesus that can see us through the storms of life. He proved this by calming the storm on the Sea of Galilee, and he can calm the storms of our lives. The disciples were soon to achieve that same belief and faith. In Acts 12, Peter was able to sleep as he awaited his execution by Herod. The apostle Paul survived three shipwrecks with a faith that buoyed him in these trying times. We must take his words in Phil.4:7 to heart..."And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus" Being in Christ raises us to new levels. We have a Savior who can calm the storms of life and in doing so, calm our hearts....

Have a great day... We can make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
