A Total Commitment

"No half-measures are any good" C.S. Lewis.... Mere Christianity

Hunter S. Thompson is credited with the idiom, "anything worth doing, is worth doing right." For someone to succeed in something...I mean really succeed, a total commitment must be made. It is a commitment to excellence. The road to failure is littered with those who were not willing to make that commitment. I guess the alternative to a total commitment would be called half-hearted commitment. Half-hearted commitment always loses. On a religious level the word we might use for total commitment is faithfulness. God has always called for this faithfulness from His people. In the 23rd chapter of Joshua, Joshua makes a call to the people to have this faithfulness. He does this because he knows that God calls for it. On a very pragmatic note, without being totally committed, there are always dangers. There is the danger that we will fall away. There is danger that we will stray. There is danger that we will turn back. Jesus said: "No one who puts his hand to the plow and looks back is fit for the kingdom" (Lk.9:62). Joshua knew that the people would face several temptations. Among them would be to call on, swear by, serve, or worship other powers. On some levels, we face some of these temptations also. A fulfilling Christian life does not happen accidentally. It does not happen in one bright shining epiphany... Success comes in a lifetime of commitment and faithfulness, not in a moment...Lets keep committed....

Have a great day... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
