Being A Good Decision Maker

"And the people said to Joshua, 'We will serve the Lord our God and obey him'" (Josh.24:24).

I have been watching the Major League Baseball playoffs this past week. One of the fun things for me is to try to match wits with the managers and the strategic decisions they make during the game. Sometimes the decisions work out, but sometimes they backfire. When they don't work out, the manager is often held under scrutiny by those watching the game. After a lot of talk from Joshua in the twenty fourth chapter, the people come to a decision..."We will serve the Lord our God and obey him." We are called upon to make many decisions each day of our lives. Some are just those are simple ones like what to wear or eat. But here in this chapter of Joshua, he is trying to teach Israel about the really important ones..You might want to read the chapter and see some of the evidences that Joshua gives to the people to get them to make the right decisions about God. He lets them know that God is on their side...God has always had their back...He let them know about the futility of following other Gods and the danger in trying to straddle the fence..Their actions speak with much more clarity than their words, so God wants them to act on those decisions. Joshua lets the people know that their destinies depend on good decision making. Finally, after the people made the right choice, Joshua makes a covenant for them at Shechem, writes down laws and decrees and marks the place with a large stone. After making the most important decision of their life, they went public with it...Joshua is teaching us about the importance of putting God first in our lives and not being afraid to stand up for Him...There's a lot of good advice here..Next time will be about some of the principles of good decision-making...

Have a wonderful day...Spend it in His service.... Love mark Phil.4:11
