The Checklist

"But if serving the Lord seems undesirable to you, then choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods your forefathers served beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you are living. But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord" (Josh.24:15).

I read Neil Armstrong's book, First Man, some time ago. One of the things that captured my attention were the problem solving techniques that were used on Apollo11. If something went wrong, there was always a checklist that was to be followed. The checklists were meticulous and had to be followed exactly. When it comes to making important decisions in our lives, we ought to have a checklist of sorts...In today's verse, after much consideration, Joshua made an important decision for himself and his entire family. "But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord." Much of chapter 24 is Joshua's checklist. Lets see some of the things that will help us make important decisions... We ought to pray to the Lord for His guidance and for His timing? It is always a good idea to consult other Christians who are wise and experienced. Their words are not necessarily sacrosanct, but they will certainly help us. When making an important decision, it must be for the long run, not just the whim of the moment. Our decisions might impact our lives for years to come, and should not be made in a cavalier manner. I have saved perhaps the most important things for last and will phrase it in question form. Will this decision bring me closer to God? Joshua put everything into perfect perspective when he uttered those famous words about himself and his family. His decision was one that would bring all of them closer to God...Just where all of us should be.....

Have a great start to your week.....Begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
