The Need To Be Wise

"Give me wisdom and knowledge that I may lead this people, for who is able to govern this great people of yours?" (2 Chron.1:10).

King Solomon had a kind of Aladdin's Lamp. "That night God appeared to Solomon and said to him, 'Ask for whatever you want me to give you'." (V 7) God was really impressed that Solomon did not ask for wealth, riches, honor, death to his enemies or a long life. Solomon saw the daunting task of governing the people, and asked for wisdom and knowledge. It was a very good move...More than likely we have all wondered what we would ask for if given that opportunity. Wisdom and knowledge are a good choice. Without wisdom we are likely to do foolish things. With it we can avoid some devastating consequences in our lives. Though common sense is sometimes good, we cannot always rely on it. So....Just how do we go about getting this wisdom that Solomon asked for? When we trust in God's Word rather than personal experience alone, we are being wise. When we put our trust in the Lord, even when we have been deceived, we are showing wisdom...By consulting with godly people who understand God's ways we are being wise. It is a wise choice to seek God's will before making important commitments. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon the first two verses of the twelfth chapter of the book of Romans. We seek God's will when we desire to live His kind of life...The apostle Paul tells us here that it is a changed life. It is a life that is not conformed to this world but renewed...."Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is---his good, and pleasing will." (V 2) To be wise we must give God our minds...This is what we should ask for....

Have a wonderful day....Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
