We Never Really Arrive

"Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to His good purpose" (Phil.3:12-13)

As goal oriented people, we are always striving for success. Success in our family life, work life and spiritual life. When we take Jesus into our life in obedience to His will, we might think that we have arrived. Success has been achieved. In reality, the first step to success has been taken. The importance of that step cannot be denied, but there is a long road to travel. Sin can cause us to fall into spiritual jeopardy...Here are just a few signs to show that even as Christians we can be in spiritual peril. If we make an attempt to rationalize our sins rather than face and correct them, we are in spiritual crisis. When we act one way in front of our brethren and another way with others, this is hypocrisy. We cannot live a double-life..When we hide our sins rather than confess them we put our spiritual lives in danger. We may be most vulnerable to sin after we have achieved some success in life. As we achieve some success in life, we may then become apathetic, complacent, arrogant or condescending. We may get so filled with ourselves that we forget how we got to where we are. The apostle Paul never forgot his roots. He was rooted in the Lord and today's verse talks about that old keep on keeping on...If Paul had not arrived as yet, how can I think that I have? God wants to work in us, "to will and to act according to His good purpose." God knows the impact of sin on our individual lives and upon the life of the church. We ought to know this too! God works in forgiven people and forgiven churches. Lets not let success go to our heads. Lets allow each success to dovetail into another as we will and act according to His good purpose...

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
