Coming Out Of The Shadows

"They serve at a sanctuary that is a copy and shadow of what is in heaven" (Heb.8:5)

Last time I wrote about life in the shadows. A life there is based totally upon human wisdom, values and insight. There is a frustration there because we do not utilize the wisdom, power and insight that is available to us through our faith and belief in the Lord. A life in the shadows takes us through our day's work with no real satisfaction. It allows us to be entertained without any real enjoyment. It has many questions for us that we just cannot answer on our own. It is like comparing the Old Law to the New. The Old Law served as only a copy or shadow of what we have in the new covenant. "But the ministry Jesus has received is as superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is mediator is superior to the old one, and it is founded on better promises" (V 6). Getting out of the shadows will allow us to enjoy today instead of yearning for tomorrow. It will allow us to believe what is solid and firm rather than just an illusion. We will find contentment rather than gathering wealth and possessions. A life out of the shadows will give us the rich satisfaction of doing God's will, knowing that it is what we are actually here for. Finally, getting out of the shadows will place a priceless value on our eternal life. Even though our life on earth may be a good and fulfilling one, it pales in comparison to living in eternity with our Lord. Remember that Jesus showed us how to escape the shadow life and come into His world of light and life when He said; "But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things shall be given to you as well" (Matt.6:33).
