Getting The Wall Built

"They replied, 'Let us start rebuilding.' So they began" (Neh.2:18).

Much of the Book of Nehemiah is about the rebuilding of the walls around Jerusalem. It is about 450 BC and the Israelites are returning from the Babylonian captivity. Even though King Artaxerxes gave him permission to rebuild, there was a lot of local resistance. Through all of this, Nehemiah, with much organization and prayer, managed the feat in just 52 days. The people needed more than a revived wall however...They needed a spiritual revival which Nehemiah and Ezra led them into. Spiritual revival doesn't happen by accident. Just as walls will crumble when neglected, so will a spiritual revival. Today we also are in need of wall rebuilding...Those walls of spiritual revival. We are of no use to our Lord if our spirits are broken down. Nehemiah gathers the people together to hear Ezra read God's Law to them. To constantly revive our spirits, we must nourish them with God's Word.."And all the people answered, 'Amen, Amen,' with lifting up their hands: and they bowed their heads and worshipped the Lord with their faces to the ground" (8:6). Not only were their spirits revived by God's Word, but by giving God the honor He deserved through passionate worship. No matter where we are, we also can slide back into sinful ways of living. We must constantly measure our behavior by the standard that God has set for us. We must never stop rebuilding...More on this tomorrow...

Have a great day.... Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
