There's Gotta Be A Formula

"There is no need for me to write to you about this service to the saints. For I know your eagerness to help and I have been boasting about it to the Macedonians" (2 Cor.9:1-2).

Einstein's famous formula, E=MC2 came under some scrutiny in September when a team of European scientists claimed that matter (neutrinos) were moving faster than the speed of light. We will hold judgement on this find for a while. Some formulas in science are held as being almost sacred, Einstein's theory being one of them. This is a sneaky way for me to get to my topic for today.....That being a great spiritual formula. I can't neatly wrap it up with symbols, but can tell you where to find it. It is the Lord's wonderful formula for generosity and is found in the ninth chapter of Second Corinthians. When we meet the needs of others, we actually meet our own as a faithful generosity can possess a powerful influence. I think it would be good for us to read and meditate upon the first five verses of this chapter and find the formula. "This service to the saints" denotes what our <\u>goal for generosity should be. "Your eagerness to help" speaks about the right people for the job. "Your enthusiasm has stirred most of them to action" means that the proper spirit for generosity has been achieved. "That our boasting about you in this matter should not prove hollow" talks of the confidence that what we are doing is right. Finally, "then it will be ready as a generous gift" shows the fruition of achievement. Now....All you have to do is put the underlined terms together and we will find a wonderful formula for Christian generosity. "Thanks be to God for His indescribable gift" (V 15).

Have a great day...Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
