Possible Danger Ahead

"What agreement is there between the temple of God and idols?" (2 Cor.6:16)

There are certainly times when we ought to take caution in relationships we make. In this section of the Book of Second Corinthians, the apostle Paul is dealing with just this topic. In his previous letter Paul makes this mission statement about hanging out with the wrong people..."Do not be misled; Bad company corrupts good character" (15:33). It can get even worse if hanging out turns into the formation of a relationship. I know that a young Christian might say; "Well....I'll change him or her." That is indeed possible, but how far are we willing to compromise our own character and morality to do this? In the very next verse, Paul makes an outstanding metaphor. "For we are the temple of the living God" When we form bad relationships, we put ourself in danger of polluting both our body and spirit. How will we be able to stay close to God if we are attached to a bad culture? If we choose to live in this culture, we leave no space for God. There are certainly some very important choices that we must make when it comes to forming relationships. I think that this "temple of the living God" thing needs to be an important consideration. "Fire and ice"....."Oil and water"....Some things just don't go together well. Purity and pollution cannot exist together in the same temple. Warning signs are all around us...There is possible danger ahead....

Have a great start to your week....Begin it with a RAK or two... Love mark Phil.4:11
