Getting A Lift

"Therefore, since through God's mercy we have this ministry, we do not lose heart" (2 Cor.4:1).

It is easy to get discouraged with all that swirls around us in this world. There is no ultimate panacea for having some low points, but there is some good biblical advice for staying on an even keel. It would be good for us to read and meditate upon Psalm 116. It starts out; "I love the Lord, for he heard my voice; he heard my cry for mercy. Because he turned his ear to me, I will call on him as long as I live." It gets better as we read more...I think the apostle Paul had a verse that he used when he needed a boost. He wrote; "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Phil.4:13). At Northfield we often sing that verse several times over as a closing song. I know that it lifts me up. If you decide to read Psalm 116 today, I think you will get some firm insight into a remedy for those down times that might plague us. The Psalmist recognizes the human plight. Everything is just not always going to come up roses. What he also ascertains is that there is a very personal rescue available...A lifesaver in the midst of a stormy sea..."The Lord is gracious and righteous; our God is full of compassion. The Lord protects the simple hearted; When I was in great need, he saved me" (Vs 5-6). When we are troubled, there is one legitimate and valid response that will never let us down. "I will lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord" (V 13). I will continue on this subject tomorrow

Have a wonderful day... Make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
