The Right Clothes

"But when the king came to the guests, he noticed a man who was not wearing wedding clothes. 'Friend,' he asked, 'how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless" (Mt.21:11-12).

I once officiated a wedding in which all of the men in attendance were encouraged to wear Hawaiian shirts. For the most part however, we usually dress in a more formal way for weddings. Jesus has told a parable about a wedding feast, and just when we think its over, the king discovers a man who is not dressed appropriately. Now this isn't just any wedding feast, but rather one for the king's own son. The king felt like the man had been disrespectful by attending without the right clothes...To me this is a kind of warning for those who share God's table because of Christ. Just as those who attended the wedding feast were to wear the right clothes, we as Christians are to wear Christ's name. It is not a cavalier attitude that should accompany the wearing of Christ's name. To sit in a church pew on Sunday morning singing Amazing Grace is no guarantee of the Lord's good will. "The Lord does not look at the things man looks at.Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart" (1 Sam.16:7). The clothes that we wear are really those of a spiritual nature. The Christian life is to be a holy one and it should be characterized by goodness. The clothes that we proudly wear show others how much we love the Lord...The right clothes....

Have a great day... Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
