Bridges Instead Of Walls

"May the God who gives endurance and encouragement give you a spirit of unity among yourselves as you follow Jesus Christ, so that with one heart and mouth you may glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ" (Rom.15:5-6).

We all know someone who was born to argue. You know who I'm talking about...They must take an opposite view on any subject. It is almost as if it is ingrained. Now I am not saying that healthy discussions can't have divergent views, but not just for the sake of divergence. The first thirteen verses of Romans fifteen speak about healthy relationships among believers. It would be good for us to meditate on them today. He is not looking for an absolute lock-step attitude on our part. Though the apostle Paul was a Jew, he did most of his work with non-Jewish people. What he preached was that in Jesus Christ there was no distinction between Jews and non-Jews. Unity! Even all believers will not always come to the same absolute conclusions on matters of conscience. If there is disagreement, it should have a foundation of love, knowing that all are under Christ. We must learn to accept others, even though we may not completely agree with them. Through love the barriers can be made less divisive. In this way we will find ourselves in the building rather than the demolition business. Walls will stop us in our tracks while bridges allow us access to one another. The Lord wants us to be bridges instead of walls. It is certainly alright to have a viewpoint, as long as it does not become a wall. The Lord is looking for unity....

Have a wonderful day...Let His light shine from you... Love mark Phil.4:11
