Faith Counts

"This is love for God: to obey his commands. And his commands are not burdensome, for everyone born of God overcomes the world. This is the victory that overcomes the world, even our faith" (1 Jn.5:3-4).

When something is of value, people may show it by saying, this counts. When my oldest son was in middle school it was identified that he was very good in math. There is an organization out there that he became aligned with called MATH COUNTS. If I am not mistaken, it still exists. If I told you to hold up one hand and enumerate the things in life that count, what would you list? Is faith one of the things on your list? The apostle Paul wrote that what really counts is "faith working through love" (Gal.5:6). I find that to be so good! There are many outside trappings when it comes to religion, but in fact religion is an inside thing. Today's verses tell us about true success in life and how to be a winner. We can overcome the circumstances of life through exercising our faith in God. As Paul thinks about the members of the church in Thessalonica, he writes; "We always thank God for you, remembering you in our prayers. We continually remember before our God and Father, your work produced by faith" (the underlining is mine) (1 Thess.1:2-3). One of the things that really counts in life is how we exercise our faith through our love. In our church services, there is a certain amount of what one might call ritual. Singing, praying, reading the Word, and participating in the Lord's Supper are all good rituals. If however, we only go through the motions in their observance, they will become just rituals. As we participate, it should be with a powerful faith that is working through love. Why? Because FAITH COUNTS....

Have a wonderful day. Show your faith be doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
