Feed Faith - Starve Doubt

"Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ" (Rom.10:17).

Today's verse is a benchmark one for Christians. When we get into Christ, we want to stay in Him. To do this, we must continue to improve. Oliver Cromwell wrote in his Bible; "He who stops being better, stops being good." There are a lot of nutritionists out there who tell us about the proper foods that we should consume for a better physical life. The absolute best spiritual food that we can take in is God's Word. Now I am not here to tell you that you should stop reading other stuff. That would be a blow to me because I love to read. My morning is not complete if I don't have a cup of coffee over the daily newspaper. That being said, it is also not complete if I have not been into the Bible each morning either. There is a difference...We may get enjoyment from reading a good novel or even the daily newspaper. Reading these may even make us a more well rounded person. But make no mistake, they will not feed our faith. The Word of God is the only food for our faith. I am not a Greek scholar, but I know that the Greek text for today's verse literally says; "Faith comes out of the word of Christ." I believe that our faith is directly linked to God's Word and understanding what it says to us. I think that when we read His Word, we can rub shoulders with God as we increase our faith. One big difference between the Bible and a novel, is that we can start anywhere and still find enjoyment and enrichment. So... Where do I begin? The answer is anywhere! You can start with the gospels and discover what Jesus is really like. You can start in the Book of Acts and read about some of the faith adventures of the early church. The Bible is chock full of passages we can read and be profited by. When we read His Word we feed our faith and starve our doubts...

Have a great day...Make a difference... Love mark Phil.4:11
