"Be of good cheer, It is I. Don't be afraid" (Mk.6:).

Jesus' first cheer to the paralytic man gave him the gift of forgiveness. Not only did he heal the man of his paralysis, but he gave him a new life in which he could find grace and forgiveness. In today's verse, the disciples are in a boat during a fierce storm. Jesus had just fed the crowd of 5,000 with only five loaves and two fishes and they did not understand. As fishermen however, they understood the water and the danger of storms. Through the storm, Jesus walked on the water to them. Jesus' second cheer was all about courage...He told them that as long as they had Him, there was no need for fear. The storm, and Jesus power over it, led them to a greater understanding of Him. In this same way, Jesus may use the storms of life to lead us to Him. "Be of good cheer. It is I. Don't be afraid." Jesus knows all about our fears as He feels them himself. They may involve doubt, sickness or family problems. Through it all, Jesus offers to us the cheer of courage, so we should listen to Him. He can give us a life of passion, with a courage to face all that might confront us. He opens a completely new way to handle the cares of life, with a courage that we cannot muster up on our own. Jesus cheers us on and lets us know that there is no longer any reason to be afraid. His second cheer is the call to courage...It is I. Don't be afraid...

Have a great start to your week...Why not begin it with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
