The Big Three

"If my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal their land" (2 Chron.7:14).

God is talking to Solomon in today's verse, calling the people to humility. The Lord makes the same call to Daniel (Dan.10:12) and Josiah (2 Ki.22:19). God is asking for several things from the people if they are to gain His favor. He asks for the big three...Humility, prayer, and repentance! Humility is not just a feeling, but rather a very personal choice to be submissive. King David took humility and prayer one step farther. "Yet when they were ill, I put on sackcloth and humbled myself with fasting" (Psa.:35:13). Maybe what is being said here is that we can never get humble enough, as David put on scratchy clothes and fasted. I believe that God is moved when we are at our most humble. He is especially sensitive to those who have had some hardships. "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit" (Psa.34:13). When things just aren't going according to plan, perhaps it's because we have lost sight of the priorities. "Humble yourselves, therefore, under God's mighty hand, that He might lift you up in due time" (1 Pet.5:6). Lets make sure that we are anchored to the basics so that God will lift us up in due time...

Have a wonderful day....Go about doing good... Love mark Phil.4:11
