The Rx

"Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not easily broken" (Ecc.4:12).

It was through a routine blood test at my doctor's, that determined my cholesterol level to be too high. He wrote a prescription for a medication that for the past five years has lowered it to an acceptable level. Many of us have had prescriptions written for us to aid our health in some way. The church at Corinth had a spiritual health issue, and the apostle Paul had the Rx in First Corinthians 1:13-17. It would be good for us to read and meditate on these verses. "Is Christ divided? Was Paul crucified for you? Were you baptized into Paul?" (V 13). Paul told them that there is no division in Christ. He was the only one crucified for the forgiveness of sins, and the only one into whom they were baptized. Only Jesus on the cross can heal divisions. Only Jesus can build the community that is the church. Paul went as far to say that he was glad that he didn't baptize most of them so that they could not claim that this made them more important. The church was then, and always will be centered around Jesus and His work on the cross. When too much trust is put in men, disappointment and disunity will not be far behind. The medications that we take only work when we take them regularly in the proper amounts. The Rx for spiritual unity lies in remembering to rely on the medications of reading the Word, prayer, praise, fellowship and witnessing through our good works. The medications work because the Lord prescribed them...

Have a great day....Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
