Filling Unfulfilled Needs

"Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him, and he began by saying to them, 'Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing'" (Lk.4:20-21).

Most people have some empty spaces in their lives. The TV commercials are filled with ways to fill those spaces. Bigger, better, prettier, thinner, richer and smarter are all there on display for us. The truth is, that only Jesus can fill the unfulfilled needs in the lives of people. After reading from the Book of the prophet Isaiah 61:1-2, a Messianic prophecy, He proclaimed to them; "Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing." As we read the verses of Isaiah's prophecy, we find the spaces that Jesus came to fill. "The spirit of the Lord is on me, because he has anointed me to preach good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim freedom to the prisoners, and recovery of sight to the blind, to release the oppressed." Jesus continues to fulfill the needs of His people today. The gospel is preached to those who are lacking material and spiritual resources. Sight to the blind means those all who are in some spiritual bondage. Freedom is granted to the spiritually blind and those broken to pieces are released from their oppression. Why? The last words of the prophecy say this: "To proclaim the year of the Lord's favor." (V 19). When we accept Jesus into our lives, it becomes the year of the Lord's favor...Jesus loves His people so much that He fills our empty spaces...He fills unfulfilled needs...

Have a great day... Do good, give the Lord the credit.... Love mark Phil.4:11
