What God Wants For Us

"Just as The Son of Man came to serve and not be served, and to give his life as a ransom for many" (Matt.20:28).

Neither my mom or dad made it past the eighth grade. It is not that they were not intelligent enough, but necessity called them to work for the family. I know it was their desire that I receive a college education, which my mom saw to. Good parents want good things for their children. What one thing above all, do you want for your children? Being a good Father, God has desires for His children also. As His children He wants us to be free yet obedient. He desires an eternal relationship with us. If I got a grade in school that wasn't real good, I would rationalize that I did better than Aaron (the kid around the corner). Mom would want none of this! Sound familiar? She wanted the best from me because I was her son, not Aaron. God expects the best from His children! From today's verse, God wants us to have a servant mentality rather than one of a constant recipient. As we look around us, we find that the people who are truly respected the most, are those who give themselves to service for the Lord. Those that put the needs of others at the forefront of their lives. God has great expectations for His children, and we should not want to disappoint him. My mom got on an airplane for the first time to fly to Arkansas and see me graduate from college. I well up now when I think of the pride that she had in her son. God wants to have that same pride in His children today. "And do not forget to do good and share with others, for with such sacrifices, God is pleased" (Heb.13:16).

Have a great day....See who you can serve today... Love mark Phil.4:11
