From Conform To Transform

"Do not conform any longer to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God's will is----His good, pleasing and perfect will" (Rom.12:2)

For the past two devotionals we have looked at some of the ways that we may evaluate ourselves or others as strong Christians. I've stressed that we tend to look at outward manifestations while the Lord looks at the heart. It is certainly a challenge for us to look at ourselves with the Lord's eyes rather than our own. If we look as the Lord does we find that the emphasis is on the transformation of the inward part of people first! While conforming is a much easier process, transforming is the required one. Simply put, transformation takes much more time and effort that conformation. We see even our closest brethren only for a few hours a week. In this short amount of time it is so easy to conform and be something that we may not really be. The Lord sees us all how we really are. We may look at someone in our congregation who is outwardly passive. The immediate reaction is to think that they must not be a very strong Christian, while that person may be very active away from us. They may be quietly calling or visiting others who are in need in their daily service to the Lord. Though their activity might be hidden to us, the Lord knows what is going on. It is so vitally important to change on the inside first. Things like church attendance or participation in church activities and leadership take on a new life of their own when done for the right reasons. As the spiritual person grows, so does our quiet service to others. We transform into what God wants us to be and see through the lens of His eyes and not our own....Looking at the heart and not just the outward appearance....

Have a great day....Serve the Lord with Gladness... Love mark Phil.4:11
