Being Practical

"Now it is God who makes both of us and you stand firm in Christ. He appointed us, set His seal of ownership on us, and put His Spirit in our hearts as a deposit, guaranteeing what is to come" (2 Cor.1:21-22)

What does being practical mean to you? People who are practical in most things are said to be pragmatic. This means down-to-earth or matter-of-fact. Practical people are said to be earthy and realistic. For some reason, much of the world does not view the Holy Spirit as being practical. I would contend that to the Christian, the Holy Spirit ought to be just that....Practical.....If the Holy Spirit were not practical, it would be difficult for me to explain some things in my life. Today's verses tell us that the Holy Spirit guarantees what is to come. That means our salvation. To the Christian, salvation ought to be a practical thing. "Now, we know that if the earthly dwelling is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven not built with human hands" (5:1). Jesus laid down His life for me that I may reside in that eternal house. Though we all cling to this life, and rightly so, there is the realism for the Christian that the best is yet to come. If life here on earth in the Lord is as good as it is, it is matter-of-fact that the coming life will so much better. "So we make it our goal to please him" (5:9). How do we explain that it is our goal to please Him? The Holy Spirit works in our hearts and in our lives to this end. The Holy Spirit simply does His practical job. It makes sense to me...Its all about being practical.

Have an excellent day...Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
