The Holy Spirit at Work

"And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever----The Spirit of truth" (Jn.14:16-17).

While Jesus was with them, He served as the disciple's counselor. He was their teacher and advisor in all things. Knowing that He would not be with them much longer, He made the extraordinary promise that we read about in today's verses. It would be good for us to read and meditate on Jn.14:16-31. Jesus names the Holy Spirit here as Counselor. This would also translate as friend, helper or witness. The Holy Spirit would be someone who would who is there to strengthen and rally us. Having the Spirit with us is just like having God and Jesus by our side. "But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and remind you of everything I have said to you" (V 26). We notice the close connection between teaching about Jesus and the residence of the Holy Spirit in this verse. His presence is not dependent on how I'm doing or how I feel, but on the completed work of the Father. Rather than our testimony being about our experience, it will be all about Jesus through the Holy Spirit. "Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives you. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid" (V 27). Finally, we have this wonderful reassurance. The Holy Spirit will calm our fears and dry our tears. He will bring to us the peace that transcends all understanding. The Holy Spirit is real and in-touch....

Have a great day..Christians should make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
