Just One In The Audience

"Through Jesus, therefore, let us continually offer to God a sacrifice of praise----the fruit of the lips that confess his name" (Heb.13:150).

Have you ever gone to a concert that was SRO? I guess part of the mystique in going to concerts is all of the people in the audience listening with you. Could you imagine that group performing and having only one person show up? In our worship, God is an audience of one. Each worshipper should pour out his or her heart to please God, and God alone. The congregation is not the audience, God is....An audience of one! The songs that we sing should come from our hearts with the prime purpose of honoring and praising God and Him only. Now don't get me wrong, everyone in the congregation hears the songs, sermon and prayers, and ought to be uplifted. "Speak to one another with psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Sing and make music in your heart to the Lord, always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of Jesus Christ" (Eph.5:19-20)........."Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in our hearts to God" (Col.3:16). It is my hope that in our worship that we are all about pleasing God. True Christians ought to be true worshippers. They ought to be humble and reverent worshippers. Whether it is in the preaching, singing, praying, or in the observance of the Lord's Supper, the focus is always to be on God. After all, He is an audience of one...

Have a great day...Let His light shine through you... Love mark Phil.4:11
