Love - The Now Word

"But concerning brotherly love you have no need that I should write you, for you yourselves are taught by God to love one another" (1 Thess.4:9).

This is not the first time that the apostle Paul has talked about love in his first letter to the Thessalonians. In an earlier verse, he thanked them for their "labor prompted by love" (1:3). Paul had sent his protege, Timothy to them and his report said: "he has brought good news about your faith and love" (3:6). Later in that same chapter he wrote: "May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you" (V 12). Love is the now word! He wanted the brethren at Thessalonica to live under the banner of love. God wants us to live under the umbrella of love also. At the end of 1 Cor.13, Paul writes; "Now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love" (V 13). Love is the now word. The by-products of love, whether from God to us or from us to others, strengthens us right now. Faith is something we have in that which we cannot see. "We live by faith, and not by sight" (2 Cor.5:7). When we get to heaven, that faith will be sight. Hope is also something in our future and will not be realized until then. Paul gives praise to the Thessalonians for the love in their lives. We should give praise also for the love in our lives that Jesus has modeled for us. We should display it to each other in both word and deed.....For after all, Love is the Now Word.....

Have a great start to your week. Display that love with a RAK or two.... Love mark Phil.4:11
