Advance and Not Retreat

"That you also aspire to lead a quiet life, mind your own business, and work with your hands as we commanded you, that you may walk properly toward those who are outside, and that you may lack nothing" (1 Thess.4:11-12).

There may have been a chance that the people in the Thessalonian church were eagerly anticipating the imminent second coming of Jesus. Paul urged them to live their lives in a normal fashion, in that no one was privy to that time. Christians cannot act as if they are in a members only club, but must "walk properly toward those who are outside." We are to be in advance rather than retreat mode. The task sometimes seems to be a daunting one. The people that we deal with on a day to day basis may not have the moral code that we do. Our faith and high moral conduct may be mocked, but we must persist nonetheless. It is up to the Christian to make the world a better place to live in, starting with our own community. Jesus' words on this were: "In the same way, let your light shine before men, that they may see you good deeds and praise your Father in heaven" (Matt.5:16). When our actions become more Christ-like, we will make the best employers and employees. We will serve the Lord as we are willing to serve others. We are indeed to be the flavorful salt of the earth and the light that the world desperately needs. The world is to be met head on! The option for retreat should not even be on our radar screen. We are the one's who need to make the difference....

Have a wonderful day...Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
