More Than A Small Town In Arkansas

"For in this hope we were saved. But hope that is seen is no hope at all. Who hopes for what he already has? But if we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it patiently" (Rom.8:24-25).

There's a lot in that little four-letter hope. We sling the word around in many ways, dealing with a multiplicity of aspects in our lives. Hope is indeed more than a little town in AR. Many times we use the term in a wishful thinking kind of way. I hope I get that job, or I hope I do well on that test...Hope is much, much more than just fanciful thinking. It is a happy anticipation of good...Taking it a step further, it is a confident expectation. I have heard the word defined as, desire plus expectation. Today's verses tell us a few very cool things about hope. It is through a real and true hope that we are saved... Real hope is never seen, for if it was, it wouldn't be hope. People don't hope for what they already have but rather have a happy anticipation of something good. When we hope for what we do not yet have, we wait for it with patience. "Now we are children of God, and what we will be has not yet been made known. But we know that when He appears, we shall be like Him, for we shall see Him as He is. Everyone who has this hope in Him purifies Himself, just as He is pure" (1 Jn.3:2-3). Hope is necessary for us so that we can have a motivation for purity, because we want to be more Christ-like in our lives. Hope brings us to where we are and sustains us. Hope will eventually take us home, where it will become reality....More tomorrow...

Have a wonderful day...Go about doing good.... Love mark Phil.4:11
