The Joy Of The Lord

"I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete" (Jn.15:11).

In the fifteenth chapter of the gospel of John, Jesus has in metaphoric terms explained relationship between us, Him, and the father. Just before today's verse He says: "As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed my Father's commands and remain in His love" (Vs. 9-10). These would be excellent words to read and meditate upon. It has always been my belief that the Lord wants us to be joyful people. The word Joy that is used here is very close in definition the word for grace. We might actually look at joy in terms of the wonderful and delightful response to the grace that we receive from God. When the virtue of joy is dampened in one's life, it is almost always evident. Just as atoms are the building blocks of matter, joy is certainly an essential element in God's kingdom. The apostle Peter writes that "even though you do not see Him now, you believe in Him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy" (1 Pet.1:8). I believe that joy is here to lighten the burdens of life and allow us to cling to our hopes. Both Jesus and his apostles gave us words that would keep our joy alive and complete. I got an encouraging email today that reminded me that our problems never equal His promises... The next time we have a setback we ought to remember these words....

Have a great day....Make a difference.... Love mark Phil.4:11
